Week 5: Expression

Welcome to The Receptive Mind course WEEK 5: 'Expression'

This week we enter the third stage of the course: 'the heart', and experience how vulnerability and boundaries dance together.

Your heart caries a powerful measurable energy field that extends around your body. The electrical field as measured in an electrocardiogram (ECG) is about 60 times greater in amplitude than the brain waves recorded in an electroencephalogram (EEG). We even influence others from a distance with our heart's energy field and vice versa. Heart math has been around for nearly 25 years, showing incredible research about how the heart's coherence strengthens our own intuitive intelligence and increases through genuine feelings of appreciation or compassion. Heart Math describe how ego choices easily override the intuitive suggestion from the heart.

To open up to the heart's intelligence we will practise open and closing as the movement of the heart. When we feel vulnerable or exposed our ego is there quickly to protect us, offering pre-set boundaries that have been experienced as successful earlier in our life's experience. To enable us to value each moment from a current and present heart-felt perspective, we practise experiencing the movement that physically occurs around vulnerability, open and closing 'as slow as we dare'. We learn to express subtle suggestions of the hearts intelligence through the bodies sensory field to strengthen these messages, making it more readable to us.

Questions:

Please answer the following questions to consolidate your practise. It will be easier to continue the practises in your own way once your experience is translated into your own words.

How slow did you go, or did you rush and get distracted?

Did you manage to keep your attention with the body throughout the process?

How does the experience of this practise benefit you?

Exercise this week:

1: Read yourself like a book this week When does your posture close or open up in relation to people or animals around you.

2: Daily check in moments Check in with your body and become more aware of your posture and energy flow.

3: Practise the pandiculation at least 4 times a week for about 7 minutes.

Working safe and aware:

Today we are working in a lying position starting in the foetus position on the floor. Put your laptop on a low table, stool or chair, to enable yourself to follow along easily. Make sure you’re in a space where you can work privately and uninterrupted Have enough space to reach out freely in each direction without hitting anything No sharp corners, cords, loose objects or other trip hazards around Wear flexible clothing and avoid jewellery Use a comfortable yoga mat or rug to centre your spot Please make sure to tuck in your t-shirt and your lower back is covered. Releasing your lower back and opening the muscles on a cool floor can result in stiffness.
